A loadbearing wall constructed of 8-inch AAC can withstand four hours of direct exposure to fire without experiencing any structural damage, and AAC 4-inch units are fire resistance rated for two hours. In addition to minimizing the risk of fire and making containment easier, non load- bearing AAC products can resist fire for approximately 1 hour per inch thickness. AAC can also lower fire insurance costs. This makes AAC masonry and precast panels suitable for use in shaft walls, area separation
walls, and other critical fire resistance applications.
